What happens when you call our 24-hour hotline

We first establish where the death occurred, whether a doctor has certified it, and where your loved one is now. Our funeral director then explains the next immediate step without asking you to make every funeral decision at once.

Once the necessary certification or release is in place, we coordinate collection from the home, hospital, hospice or Mortuary@HSA and transfer your loved one into our care. We can also handle the permit and cremation or burial booking on the family's behalf.

You can call before every document is ready. Tell us what has happened and we will explain what your family should do next, what we can begin immediately, and what must wait for the doctor or authorities.

What we coordinate after a death

The first steps differ depending on where the death occurred. Call us and we will guide you through the correct route.

Funeral hotline24/7
Tell us where your loved one is and whether a doctor has certified the death.

You do not need to work through these steps alone.

1 If the death happened in a hospital or hospice

  • Inform the hospital doctor, ward nurse or hospice team
  • The doctor certifies the death online and it is registered automatically
  • Download and save the digital death certificate when its number is issued
  • Tell us the facility and mortuary details so we can coordinate collection after release
  • We transfer your loved one into our care and begin the chosen funeral arrangements

2 If the death happened at home

  • Contact the regular family doctor or a doctor who can make a house call
  • Share the deceased's identification and relevant medical records with the doctor
  • If the doctor cannot certify the death, the police will arrange transfer to Mortuary@HSA
  • Once the death is certified or the authorities release your loved one, we coordinate collection
  • We can apply for the burial or cremation permit and make the required booking for the family

You do not need to choose the whole funeral before calling

The immediate priority is certification, collection and bringing your loved one into care. Once that is underway, we can discuss whether the family wants a wake, burial or cremation, the preferred number of days, the location and the religious customs to observe.

We arrange Buddhist, Taoist, Christian, Catholic and non-religious funerals. Families who do not want a wake can review the separate direct cremation package. All broader options are listed on our packages and pricing page.

Common questions

Getting immediate funeral help in Singapore

Can I call a funeral director at any hour in Singapore?

Yes. Ang Brothers answers funeral calls 24 hours a day. Call 9871 8388 when a death occurs and we will guide you through the immediate steps and arrange collection or transfer where required.

What information should I have when I call?

Tell us where the death occurred, where your loved one is now, and whether the family has any known religious or funeral wishes. If you do not have every detail yet, call anyway. We will explain what is needed in order.

What happens when someone dies in a hospital or hospice?

Inform the doctor, ward nurse or hospice team. If the cause is known, the doctor certifies the death online and it is registered automatically. Once the facility releases your loved one, we coordinate collection and transfer into our care.

What should I do when someone dies at home?

Contact the regular family doctor or a doctor who can make a house call. Share the deceased's identification and relevant medical records. If the doctor cannot certify the death, the police will arrange transfer to Mortuary@HSA for the authorities to determine the next step.

Can you collect from a home, hospital or hospice?

Yes. Once the death has been certified and the home, facility or authorities can release your loved one, we coordinate the collection and dignified transfer. Tell us the exact location when you call.

What if the police or Mortuary@HSA is involved?

The police and coroner must complete their process before release. We can explain what the family should prepare and coordinate collection once the authorities confirm that your loved one may be claimed for the funeral.

Do I need the digital death certificate before calling?

No. You may call us as soon as the death occurs. A doctor must certify the death before the formal permit and booking steps can be completed, but we can guide you and prepare the arrangements while certification is underway.

What documents will the family need?

Keep the deceased's NRIC, FIN card or passport and relevant medical records available. After certification, download and save the digital death certificate. We will explain any further documents required for the permit, booking and chosen funeral arrangement.

Must we decide on a wake or package immediately?

No. The first call can focus on certification, collection and immediate care. We can discuss the wake, faith requirements, burial or cremation and the appropriate package once the urgent steps are under control.
